If you continue in my word, then you are my disciples indeed; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:31-32
Light of the Cross Lutheran Church is in its 29th year of Christian Education ministry.

Christian education is a strong Lutheran tradition that has been successful at LOTC because of the large number of volunteers who dedicate their time and talents to ensure its success.
Sunday School classes are held at 9AM on Sundays, September through May. All are welcome!
LOTC Sunday School Staff Plans
Elementary Diana Schremp, Rick Heinbaugh, Pastor Chris Hogstad, Karrie Gengo, and the Youth Group This year our Elementary Class is based on a VBS style rotational format, where teachers sign up to teach on a week-to-week basis. Teachers can sign up to teach a lesson, lead a craft, or teach God’s word in some other unique way based on their talents. A new lectionary based curriculum from Augsburg Fortress called “Spark” is available as a teaching resource. Any member of the congregation that would like to share God’s word with our children is welcome to volunteer. Weekly sign-up sheets are located in the narthex.

Education Committee

The purpose of the Education Committee is to provide administrative guidance for these and other education activities. The Education Committee establishes the budgets, selects children's Sunday School curriculum, organizes classes and manages child safety - plus coordinates a few other fun events like the Christmas Program, the Easter Egg Hunt and the Annual Church Sunday School Picnic.

Child Safety

Child Safety is safeguarded continuously with governing guidelines and records being kept for adult volunteers over the age of 18 who work with children and youth programs. All adult volunteer information is kept on file in a locked cabinet.

In addition, youth events that take place off church property have signed permission slips and emergency forms completed on all youth in attendance.
